I Love New York! Day 1- Friday

Marilyn had to work on Long Island so I flew up to meet her for a great get-away weekend in NYC! While Marilyn worked on Friday morning I went to see the birth place and museum of favorite poet Walt Whitman.

When Marilyn finished working we hopped on a train and made it to
Times Square before check in time at the Marriott Marquis.
We were in our room and ready to begin our great weekend by 3 PM!

The view from our room!

The view down from our floor.
There are 4 or 5 restaurants on the eighth floor.
We were on the 12th floor.

We walked to a cute Irish Pub, O'Brien's, for a quick bite to eat.

This beautiful church was across the street.

We walked back to the hotel to get in line to buy half price
show tickets and were able to get seats to see Chicago!

We celebrated by going to the View Restaurant at the top of
the Marriott to see the city from the top! 72 floors up!

The View revolves slowly so in one hour we were
able to see a complete 360 degree view of the city!

We were a little early so had a glass of wine at this great little
French club and watched the Gators for the first
part of their game against Butler, they won!

Then we were off to the Ambassador to see the musical "Chicago"

The musical was amazing! What an extravaganza of song and dance!

After "Chicago" we went to the Roxy for dessert,
yummy New York Cheesecake!

So now it is the end of our first day in NYC! We were both amazed at how much we crammed into one day and we still have Saturday and Sunday to go! Stay tuned!

Today I walked 7 miles!
(I drove Marilyn crazy with my pedometer, and this was just the first day!)

We REALLY love New York! Day 2 - Saturday

Not knowing how we were going to top our fabulous first day in NYC, we woke up early and began our trek to see more of the city. We found a typical corner cafe and started our day with coffee and a great breakfast, then we were off to walk to St. Patrick's cathedral.

We were just in time for noon Mass, so after a wonderful spiritual service, I lit a candle for Will and his platoon as well as for all of our service men, theirs and our families. Pretty powerful stuff!

Then we were off past The Trump Tower,Tiffany's, and FAO Schwarz for a great walk uptown through central park.

We had a pretzel at Strawberry Fields as we looked at the beautiful Dakota building where John Lennon lived and died. Thoughts of Peace were utmost in our minds as we enjoyed our very peaceful day.

We walked past the Museum of Earth and Space Science. Cool model of the Universe!

Then we were off to the West Village and Lalo's, the cute bistro where Meg Ryan met Tom Hanks in the movie "You've Got Mail" 86th and Amsterdam/Broadway. By now we had walked about 6 miles and we are ready to sit for a drink and a treat!

Wow, time to head back to the ticket line to see if we can find another half price show ticket for tonight. We caught the subway and stood in line for about 30 minutes before we were able to get great tickets to see "Hairspray"! Wow, how lucky can two girls get????!!!!

We thought the show was at 6:15, so we were quite early and decided to go to Gallagher's, an incredible steak house near the Neil Simon Theater. We had an unbelievably delicious filet before our show started!

Cool mural in Gallagher's of the famous people who have eaten there.

Wow! Another amazing Broadway Musical. So full of energy and wonderful music and dancing!
We skipped dessert and went back to the hotel for night cap and then off to sleep to get ready for our last morning in NYC! We walked over 7 miles today so we are really tired!

We Adore New York! Day 3- Sunday

One of our favorite things about our trip was our great view of Times Square and all of the clocks.

We took one last walk around the Rockefeller Center and had a bagel and coffee at Dean and Delucas before heading back to catch our train to Long Island.

On our way to the train, we passed a mob of people and cameras, and low and behold, it was Ty Pennington, from Extreme Home Makeover! I HAD to stop and take some pictures. He has been a fun hero of mine and my sister, Sally's, since we first watched him on Trading Spaces, many years ago!

On to the train, we ran and barely made the 12:20, but what a pain! We had to haul our suitcases up and down several flights of subway stairs. We got our exercise and clocked 5 miles today before getting to the airport and catching our flights to Florida. We totaled almost 20 miles on hoof this weekend, so even though we had a great time, we got our exercise, too~!
What a great time, Thanks Marilyn!!! Let's do it again, soon!!!!!
